About TBE

Turkish Biotechnology Institute has been established under the roof of Presidency of Health Institutes of Turkey.

The main objective of its establishment covers the formation of research centres focusing on health sciences and biotechnology, as well as supporting the existing ones. In addition, the institute seeks the coordination of the research & development activities by encouraging mutual collaboration between universities, governmental and private businesses for the manufacture of novel products and development of a biotechnology ecosystem by providing financial support to researchers through project proposals. In this sense, the institute started “Genome Project of Turkey” for the diagnosis and curing of rare diseases with genetic bases, complex diseases, early diagnosis of cancer and patient-exclusive therapy. Moreover, the Institute will provide supports to projects comprising manufacture of biotechnological products of priority for the country (i.e. vaccine, monoclonal antibody, hormone, plasma products, blood-clotting factors, insulin) development of medical devices and diagnosis kits and regenerative medicine, stem cell, gene, and cellular therapy activities.

Finally, the institute will be leading international collaborations to help raise young scientists. Specialists and researchers were deployed for the purpose of supporting research and development in the field of medical biotechnology under the roof of the institute in 2017. The deployments will be continued for this purpose.
